Mentorship Program

2019 / 2020 Mentorship Program

Applications are now CLOSED for the 2019-20 Mentorship Program. Check back in the fall to apply for the 2020-21 program.

The IABC Edmonton Mentorship Program is an opportunity for IABC members to expand their network, build relationships, and grow as communicators. The 2019 / 2020 Mentorship Program will return to a one-on-one mentoring format where senior and mid-level communicators (mentors) are matched with student, junior, and mid-level communicators (mentees).

The Mentorship Program will run from November to June. Mentors and mentees will be asked to meet once per month on their own schedule throughout the program and to attend four free Mentorship events.

Becoming a Mentor

Give back and share your expertise with an up and coming communicator in our city. In addition to free Mentorship events, mentors will also receive exclusive discounts on IABC Edmonton PD Sessions and Capital Awards tickets as a thank you for their participation.

Requirements for being a mentor include:

  • Senior Communicator (15+ years of experience)
  • Mid-Level Communicator (7 – 15 years of experience)
  • Ability to connect with your mentee once a month
  • Willingness to share stories, feedback, and advice

Becoming a Mentee

Learn from some of the best and brightest communicators in the city, expand your network and grow as a communicator. Due to the one-on-one mentoring format, the number of mentees accepted into the program will depend on the number of mentors and compatibility of mentors who apply.

Requirements for being a mentee include:

  • Must be a current IABC member
  • Junior Communicator (0 – 6 years of experience)
  • Student Communicator (currently enrolled in post-secondary education)
  • Mid-Level Communicator (7 – 15 years of experience)
  • Ability to connect with your mentor once a month
  • Support from your supervisor and workplace
  • Eagerness to learn from and accept feedback from your mentor
