Open Positions
Vice President
Term length: Three years starting July 1, 2026; you’d serve one year as Vice President, followed by one year as President and one year as Past President
Are you ready to step into a role where vision meets action? As the Vice President, you’d be the chapter’s chief strategist and leadership talent scout. This role is the perfect platform for refining your executive presence and mentoring skilled communications pros.
- Attends regular and special meetings.
- Supports the President in providing leadership and oversight of the chapter’s affairs.
- Assists in training and onboarding of new Board members.
- Supports the Board of Directors in establishing annual strategic plans and budgets.
- Serves as an authorized bank-signing officer.
- Represents IABC Edmonton in regional IABC affairs, including IABC Canada West Region (CWR). This includes attending IABC CWR meetings, submitting status reports as needed and building relationships with other regional chapters.
- Creates and coordinates leadership development opportunities for IABC Edmonton board members. This can include attendance at Dare to Lead, World Conference and more.
- Serves on and chairs the Nominating Committee, which is responsible for determining the positions required on the Board of Directors, ensuring the position descriptions represent the needs of the chapter, and recruiting board members to fill vacant positions on the Board of Directors.
- Reviews the chapter’s Bylaws to ensure they reflect the needs of the chapter and Board of Directors.
- Undertakes special projects as requested.
- Acts in the absence of the President.
- Maintains a record of activities in the position and saves related information on the Board of Directors’ shared Google Drive.
Senior Director of Administration
Term length: Two years starting July 1, 2026

As Senior Director of Administration, you’d…
- Attend regular and special meetings.
- Develop the annual portfolio plan and budget.
- Arrange board meetings, including the creation and circulation of the agenda and distribution of minutes.
- Arrange chapter membership meetings, such as the Annual General Meeting, including creating and circulating the agenda, presentation materials, and other documentation.
- Maintain chapter records, including agendas, minutes, official documentation and historical information.
- Ensure all meetings achieve quorum.
- Assist in training and onboarding of new Board members.
- Manage access to the Board of Directors’ digital record management platform, calendar, email and more.
- Maintain the IABC Edmonton intranet.
- Support the chapter’s certification efforts, such as hosting in-person Communications Management Professional (CMP) or Strategic Communications Management Professional (SCMP) certification exams.
- Manage all general correspondence with IABC Edmonton, including the chapter email address and PO Box.

Term length: Two years starting July 1, 2026
