Greetings to the IABC Edmonton community! For those of you who I have yet to meet, my name is Vania Asenova, and I am your new chapter President. I am delighted to be leading IABC Edmonton for the coming year, and I hope to continue to deliver outstanding local value to you, the members.
I hope to keep the momentum going and build on the hard work of previous boards, while continuing to increase member engagement, enhance the value of professional development opportunities, add member benefits and raise the visibility of our chapter—all while remaining fiscally sound.
The start of a new board year is always an exciting time for me, and I’d like to introduce the new board. We have pulled together a highly skilled, warm, creative, interesting team of people who love business communications and are ready to drive interesting content, dynamic events and great professional development opportunities for you, our members.
Please welcome the new faces:
Executive Vice President: Tracy Annicchiarico
Membership: Julianna Veldtman
Administration: Angela Saveraux
Volunteers: Crystal Komanchuk
Special Events: Laura Ruddock
Communications: Kyla Gaelick
Sponsorship: Ben Freeland
As a Board, we have certainly been busy looking after the development of our three-year strategy and portfolio plans. Over the coming year, we would like to work with our members to ensure that our content, networking events and professional development programming remain meaningful, interesting and relevant.
In May, we launched our brand new and totally awesome website with a modern voice. To support our chapter’s strategic priority of building and enhancing the value of IABC-offered content, we’ll continue improving our website and our chapter newsletter to ensure you’re in the loop with what’s happening in IABC on a regional and international level.
To get the most out of your membership, I encourage you to get involved. I can testify that the benefits and opportunities of IABC have become much more valuable as I attended professional development events, volunteered for committees and became a board member. Volunteering has created opportunities for me to enhance my skills, to network and to develop friendships and strong connections with industry peers.
We are always on the lookout for amazing volunteers who are interested in writing newsletter articles and blog posts, assisting with the planning of events and doing a myriad of other things that make our chapter educational and fun. If you are interested in getting involved with IABC Edmonton, please send a note to Crystal, our Volunteers Chair.
I encourage you to stay tuned to all IABC Edmonton happenings by checking our website, reading our newsletter and following us on social media: Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
Our chapter strives to be a positive influence to our members, both professionally and personally. Many of our members have been with us for more than ten years, but a large majority are relatively new! Whether you are new to IABC or have been a member for years, we welcome your ideas, feedback and comments. We are determined to offer an exceptional member experience to all of our members, so no matter where you are in your career journey, you will know that we care and we are committed to your professional success.
I hope to see or meet you at our events. Here's to a great year!
