Award Criteria
Member of the Year
This award is presented to a member of IABC Edmonton who exemplifies the values of IABC, and who has made a sincere commitment and contribution to the success of the chapter.
Your nomination should demonstrate how the nominee has:
- Gone above and beyond the call of duty to help the chapter achieve its vision and goals. (50% of total score)
- Shown creativity and innovation in managing and implementing projects. (25% of total score)
- Consistently acted as a chapter ambassador, taking advantage of opportunities to promote IABC in the community. (25% of total score)
Communicator of the Year
This award is presented to an IABC Edmonton member who exemplifies the values of IABC and who, during their career, has demonstrated a superior level of achievement in communication and who has contributed to IABC at the local, district or international level.
Your nomination should demonstrate how the nominee:
- Has shown excellence in professional work, having consistently used innovative or creative problem solving to achieve organizational goals. (25% of total score)
- Understands and actively integrates IABC’s Code of Ethics for Professional Communicators into their work and helps others meet the same standards. (20% of total score)
- Acts as an ambassador for the chapter in dealings with internal and external publics and organizations. (15% of total score)
- Has been recognized externally for excellence in their professional work and may be the recipient of one or more IABC Silver Leaf or Gold Quill Awards. (10% of total score)
- Has served IABC Edmonton in a leadership role having contributed to strengthening the Chapter. (10% of total score)
- Has served at the District/International level building stronger links between the local chapter and District/International by addressing challenges and concerns. (10% of total score)
- Has achieved professional accreditation from IABC. (10% of total score)
Capital Communicator
This award is presented to a non IABC member, outside of the communications profession, who plays a leadership role in a public, private or not-for-profit organization in Alberta. This individual recognizes, understands and supports the communications function and has made a major contribution to either internal or external stakeholder communication.
Your nomination should demonstrate how the nominee:
- Recognizes and actively supports the value of communications as a strategic function within their organization. (40% of total score)
- Acts consistently with IABC’s Code of Ethics for Professional Communicators. (30% of total score)
- Contributed to an external or internal public’s understanding of an issue and built stakeholder support for that issue. (30% of total score)
